My name is Tim, and AUXStream is my personal website. It’s where I host all my unfinished projects that need a place. It is also where I blog about stuff that interests me. So who am I?
I was born in 1978. I have a family. I like making, fixing, and understanding things. I’ve worked with computers, cars, and electronics.
I’m a programmer. I learned BASIC on my Apple //c in the ’80s, moved to Pascal on my PC in the ’90s when I was a BBS SysOp, quickly moved to C, and more recently have messed with PHP.
I’m a system builder. From making a single custom PC to designing a multi-room, multi-system, multi-media network, it’s all fun.
I’m OS neutral. I run Ubuntu in my kitchen, Gentoo in my basement, Win7 at work, iOS in my pocket, OS 7.1 in my Performa 520, ProDOS on my //c, OSX on top of my TV, and CBM BASIC 2.0 on my VIC-20. They all work great, and play nice together.
I’ve owned maybe 20 cars. Most cost under $1000, and most are retired from road use by this point. I work at a Nissan dealership, so I’ve had 6 Nissans, but have also owned a Toyota, some Dodges and Plymouths, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Buicks, a Ford or two, a Triumph, and probably some others. Almost all of them had something about them that was awesome.
I play bass and like musical instruments. I own guitars and keyboards, and have played in crappy bands with friends. I’m re-learning guitar, because I’ve done it wrong for the past seventeen years.
I like electronics. Not buying and consuming devices, but opening, repairing, building, and modifying them.
I play Video games, but not often. I’m not good at them, but I enjoy loosing at Mega Man when I can.
But most importantly, I live in Calgary with my family. Karra, Jacob, Ava, Liam, as well as the animals (Spooky, Lola, Batman, Ninja, Damien, and Yaya).
